Bivouac likes to have happy clients…

“I just wanted to say how impressed I’ve been with your whole design process, this has easily been the best piece of design work that I’ve commissioned and it has been a pleasure working on it with you. You have taken a complicated set of information that we needed to get across and applied great design to it, resulting in a really clear, easy to use, yet comprehensive guide. You’ve given great attention to detail, always been willing to make changes where they are needed and turned things around quickly. Really appreciated.” Scheme Manager, Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership, Nidderdale AONB

“Thank you for all the work you’ve done for us on Hadrian’s Cavalry. You’ve been great to work with and all the marketing materials look brilliant.” Marketing Manager, NGI Solutions

“Kate at Bivouac is a complete joy to work with. Kate is flexible and thorough. She listens carefully and understands. She is responsive to feedback, and produces high quality results – all on time. With an appreciation of the project’s vision, an eye for detail and colour, a brilliant understanding of how audiences respond to graphic presentation and a huge amount of creativity and flair, I would whole-heartedly recommend Bivouac.” Director, Minerva Heritage

“The strength in the Bivouac approach is in taking time to connect with the themes they are working with, in discussing and sharing ideas with the client – teasing out the core values then subtly reflecting these back in the design work. At Richmond Bivouac proved excellent partners, helping the in-house team to hone our vision with the resultant design work giving the project a clear definition and flexibility across a number of platforms.” Senior Collections Curator, English Heritage

“It looks absolutely fabulous… (The Hadrian’s Cavalry Turma! ad) is the best artwork we’ve had on there so far – really fills the space and stands out.” Carlisle City Council, about an outdoor digital screen advert

“The Bar Convent team wanted to find a partner to design their new Exhibition. They wanted a team who would understand them, listen to their needs and provide solutions beyond their own ideas.  Having looked at the best in the region, Bivouac were selected and we were glad they were!  Not only were they a joy to work with, they brought a wealth of experience and creativity into our project. They were professional, thoroughly considered in their proposals and delivered outstanding work with exceptional attention to detail.” General Manager, The Bar Convent

“We really enjoyed working with Bivouac to produce our new Hidden Stories publication. We were particularly impressed at your creativity and ability to find creative solutions in-line with our existing brand. The finished product looks really great – thanks again to you and your team.” Publications Manager, Heritage Lottery Fund

“Bivouac has produced inspiring and innovative marketing materials for Trinity House on numerous diverse projects. The artwork produced has been fresh and interesting and their input and ideas have brought our concepts to life. The dedication and hard work throughout all projects has resulted in vibrant promotional resources for our services.

Project delivery has been impeccable time and time again and the end result has exceeded expectations. It has been a pleasure working with the team at Bivouac who could not have been more helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services to anyone looking for an original and creative design company.” Trinity House

“We’re very pleased with the rebranding and design work that Bivouac has done for St Nicks. It was a pleasure to work with the team, reasonably priced and we’ve had a lot of positive comments on the results. We would happily recommend Bivouac as a great partner for this kind of project.” Project Leader, St Nicks

“Kate gives the design profession a good name. She always takes time to discuss and understand the product and brief, puts the client’s objectives first and will put extra thought and work into a project to provide the most creative and well-designed solution. Just as importantly, she’s reliable and professional, helpful and approachable and is good fun to work with. Quite simply, she’s the perfect design agency!” Communications Consultant and Editor

“Trinity House was very impressed with the significant contribution made by Bivouac to the design of the new Lighthouse Visitor Centre at Portland Bill Lighthouse in Dorset. Bivouac designed the graphic scheme for the Visitor Centre and its external signage, and was particularly instrumental in the creation of the innovative centre-piece of the exhibition entitled “Into the Dark” which seeks to give visitors the impression of what it might have been like to take passage on a ship in rough seas in years gone by. The Centre overall provides visitors of all ages with entertaining and educational images and text of the 500 year history of the Corporation of Trinity House and the history of lighthouses and lighthouse keepers as well demonstrating the critical value of aids to navigation to the safety of shipping and the economy of the country. There are also hands-on exhibits for the younger visitors.” Project Leader, Trinity House

“We were impressed by the work that Bivouac had done on Ampleforth Abbey’s visitor centre and the practical approach that they took when bidding for the design of our own, so we signed them on. We found them all easy and pleasant to work with and fully attentive to what we wanted to convey. We had plenty of opportunity to give them input. The design that they came up with for our visitor centre and new shop was brilliant, and fully in keeping with the ethos of the place. The reaction from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive.” The Benedictine Community at Quarr Abbey

“The success of Bivouac’s work in designing the Gatehouse Exhibition at Leeds Castle can be measured in the huge number of positive comments we have had since opening in June 2014. The graphics are both stylish and beautiful, and it is largely through their design work that 900 years of castle history has such appeal to the full spectrum of our audience demographic.

As a company, Bivouac were tremendously creative with a real mix of
contemporary and classic in their design portfolio; as a team I found them all to be lovely to work with, and would not hesitate to use them again on another heritage interpretation project. Curator, Leeds Castle

“Working with Bivouac on the Bolsover Castle project has been a very successful collaboration and an enjoyable experience.

Kate Pettitt and her team produced not only a thoroughly researched proposal for the tender, but also a product that dealt with the many aspects of the project as a whole creating a stunning interpretation scheme. They have supported the project’s vision throughout its development and delivered a product of great quality and integrity. Choosing the right professionals and suggesting artists and craftsman for specific elements of the project has helped deliver a very successful project.

We’re looking forward to working with Bivouac in the future as they always deliver beautifully designed and thoroughly thought out products.” Interpretation Manager (North), English Heritage

“I have no reservations about recommending Kate and her team at Bivouac. They were able to take on board our ideas and the overall impact we hoped to achieve and make it a reality; combining visual creativity, professionalism and genuine customer care.

I was impressed by their sensitivity to our way life and patience with how the project needed to proceed, from the perspective that we are working on behalf of the Congregation.

We are delighted with the outcome of our project and are reassured by the support we are receiving to add our own finishing touches that in many ways go beyond the brief.” Stanbrook Abbey, on behalf of The English Benedictine Congregation

“I just wanted to thank you… for the fabulous and very professional Heritage Panel that was installed at Plas Newydd earlier this year. We have had an excellent response from our visitors who have been enthralled by this and it has opened their eyes to places to visit on Anglesey and to follow the heritage trail. It is also incredibly useful for our staff as they use the board to suggest to our visitors other areas of the island they had not thought of visiting. The quality of the board is of extremely high standard and the fact that it is interactive is also appealing to our ‘curious minds’ visitors.” Visitor Experience Manager, Plas Newydd, The National Trust

“At Housesteads Roman Fort, Bivouac has once again delivered a fantastic graphic solution. The new museum and site panels are interesting and engaging and sit well alongside the historic artefacts from the fort and the remains of the buildings themselves. Felix, a cartoon Roman soldier, appears on many of the panels and broadens the family appeal of the site. We are particularly impressed with the colours used within the museum to transform the space into an exciting, uncluttered environment with beautiful sight lines. The project was delivered within a very short timespan and with Bivouac’s customary efficiency, flexibility and creative flair.” Interpretation Team Leader, English Heritage

It has been a pleasure to work with Bivouac on our new introductory exhibition for Carlisle Castle. They produced a fine, attractive design for the exhibition which conveys the complex messages we want to get across to our visitors in a very clear way, and which turned a rather anonymous room into an appealing destination. The various interactives are ingeniously designed and robustly made. Bivouac were consistently prompt and professional, and It was a pleasure to work with them throughout.

The specification had to be high, as the room in question cannot be warded, and all the items are well and substantially made, of good materials. A high standard of finish has been achieved throughout, in an installation which, though compact, has many different elements. We are delighted with the result.” Inspector, English Heritage

“Bivouac have helped us design our prospectus and more recently our Jennyruth catalogue which showcases our work and products. They produced a brilliant design – very eye-catching and distinctive and we are all so proud to give it out to potential customers. The feedback has been excellent. Bivouac worked very professionally with us and really understood what we were trying to achieve.” Jennyruth Workshops

“It was a real pleasure to work with Bivouac to deliver graphic interpretation for the National Railway Museum’s Station Hall. They immersed themselves in the look and feel of the project, including visiting the museum to draw on the visual language of our objects. They responded to our brief creatively and came up with a number of imaginative solutions to our various criteria. Kate’s engagement with our stories and assets was clear, and resulted in striking and engaging designs. They were also proactive in procuring samples and liaising with potential suppliers. Their effective management of the production process meant that installation ran smoothly and to time. The timescale on this project was very tight, but rigorous planning and excellent communication meant that we were successful in meeting our deadlines.” Interpretation Leader, National Railway Museum

We commissioned Bivouac to design out new Visitor Centre interpretation, as we wanted to encourage visitors to find out more about the history of Ampleforth and the work of the monastic community whilst providing an additional attraction for visitors to the site.

We didn’t have a large budget, but Bivouac squeezed a lot from it, coming up with a colourful design scheme that brings life to the subject matter and appeals to all ages, while remaining respectful of the monastic community that live and work on site. Utilising colour, graphic design, tactile interactives, illustration, multimedia quizzes and a film produced by ay-pe, they communicate key messages in fun and engaging ways. The quality of the design, print and production is excellent, and it was all delivered on time and on budget.

The Abbey staff, monks and Abbot are all delighted with the results, and it has been very well received by the public. Our footfall through the Abbey and grounds has increased, and in particular it is encouraging visitors to explore and visit our Tea Room, Abbey Shop, Orchard and Cider Mill.

All in all Bivouac’s involvement has helped make the new Visitor Centre at Ampleforth a real success!” Ampleforth Abbey

“English Heritage has worked with Bivouac on a number of interpretation projects in the North of England over the past 3 years. Ranging from an exhibition centred around a famous painting at Brodsworth Hall to an entire interpretation scheme at Bessie Surtees House in Newcastle, Kate and the Bivouac team have always stepped up to the challenge of working in historic environments and providing design and build solutions that are colourful, creative and imaginative.” Interpretation Manager, English Heritage

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for an innovative and imaginative design company.” Head of Corporate Training, University of York and Director of The Training Gateway

“I’ve worked with Bivouac across a number of projects whilst at different organisations, and they always come up with new ideas each time. “The Army Museum York sets out to tell the story of Yorkshire men and women who have in the past and continue to serve in the armed forces over the last 300 years. The story of Afghanistan is as important as Waterloo or the 2nd World War and an Afghanistan exhibition idea was conceived and just needed telling. The museum has the knowledge but not the expertise to design and present an exhibition for an event that is current and constantly changing as events unfold in Afghanistan. Bivouac provided all that expertise and more. Their attention to detail, design flare and creative ideas together with huge helpings of patience have produced an outstanding result drawing compliments from all over the city’s museum community as well as visitors. I look forward to working with Bivouac again.” Regimental Secretary, The Royal Dragoon Guards

“A quick thank you for the job on the PROACTIS magazine – not just for the creative work but also keeping it to schedule and on budget!” Director of Marketing, Proactis

“I have to tell you how delighted we are with the two brochures and the folder that Bivouac has designed for Horticap. The thinking behind the style and presentation is refreshing, the attention to detail could not be faulted and the end results were brilliant and have been widely admired. This is a testimonial to the professionalism, dedication and patience of Kate and her team for which we are truly grateful.” Deputy Chairman, Horticap

“The Company of Merchant Adventurers has worked with Bivouac for more than three years on a number of related projects. These have included the re-design of our website, the production of portable display banners, publicity fliers, a new guide book and most recently the design, production and installation of new interpretation panels within The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall. We trust Bivouac to help us develop the Company’s image and to improve the manner in which the 652 year old Merchant Adventurers’ Hall and its contents are interpreted for the visiting public. Employing a single designer has allowed us to ensure that all our publicity material is similar in appearance, colour and design and therefore clearly belongs to the same ‘family’. Bivouac’s most recent project for us, the design and production of new interpretation panels has been a triumph and I cannot commend Bivouac more highly for their work. It has and continues to be a pleasure to work with Kate Pettitt and her team.”  Clerk to The Company and Audience Development Officer, The Company of Merchant Adventurers of The City of York

“As a marketing company specialising in promotional gifts, we spend our lives looking and advising on other peoples logos and imagery. Kate subtley suggested it was time for a look that reflected the various personalities at Response Marketing and came up with a fresh new look. We sat down with Jack after the initial designs were done and our new look came together. Our clients have all been very positive and have all said that its “much more like you guys!”. Thanks to Kate and Jack for revitalising our look!” Director, Response Marketing

The Leonard Stokes Directory – Architect in a Dressing Gown is the second book that Bivouac have produced for me from the design stage through to the printed copy. Kate Pettitt and her team have excelled in a design which is not only beautiful but encompasses the ideals promoted by the Arts and Crafts Movement in the period during which this architect lived and worked and has solved the practical problem of featuring a gazetteer of more than one hundred and twenty of his architectural commissions – some of several pages and some of simply a sentence.

I would recommend Bivouac for their design flair, attention to detail, service and reliability. The ‘Bivouac Experience’ has been both satisfying and a pleasure – well done!” Author

“It was a joy to work with Bivouac. Not only did they respond creatively to the original brief but intuitively understood what we were aiming at, what atmosphere we were trying to create in the Mill, which was so successfully translated into her graphic design. Their co-ordination of all the different processes, in order to keep to a very tight schedule, was excellent, and I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail that Kate and her colleagues brought to the entire project.” Gayle Mill Manager
