Vanbrugh300 is a year-long celebration of Sir John Vanbrugh, England’s finest Baroque architect and dramatist. Sometimes referred to as ‘The Rockstar of the English Baroque’, Vanbrugh’s architectural work was as bold and daring as his early political activism and risqué plays.
Vanbrugh300 takes place across six Vanbrugh-designed venues across the UK (Castle Howard, Blenheim Palace, Grimsthorpe Castle, Kimbolton Castle, Seaton Delaval Hall and Stowe House) and Bivouac was commissioned by The Georgian Group, to design the brand, website and six temporary exhibitions for the celebrations that run throughout 2026.

A playful Baroque collage approach was taken to the look and feel of the marketing, to portray a sense of Vanbrugh’s anarchic approach to his work – a subtle nod to Jamie Reid’s Sex Pistols covers!
We worked closely with the good folks at See Green, who developed the website. The site feels fresh, lively, and a bit quirky – like the man himself – while remaining accessible and intuitive to use. You can explore it here: www.vanbrugh300.co.uk
Each of the venues received temporary exhibitions containing information about Vanbrugh and his life and work, and venue-specific stories. The following images are from Seaton Deleval Hall in Northumberland (All images © House of Hues).
